I'm pretty good with computers but i lack real world experience of building and problem solving involving hardware so i need some guidance. Right now i'm running an AMD FX 6300, 1050 ti etc, you can see why i would want an upgrade. I'm pretty much building a new pc seeing as the only things i'm not changing is my storage and graphics card. I'm wondering if drastically changing so much about my hardware in such a short interval will mess with windows on my ssd because my dad, a long time computer user, said it might do so. Knowing my dad, he is pretty out of date on computers and i suspect that because he runs windows 7 what he says might not apply anymore with windows 10 (specifically windows 10 pro) and recent updates but i would like to have a second opinion so I know what i'm getting into and if he's right or not.

Getting a new motherboard can screw with windows, so upgrading to Ryzen might require a fresh install. Although it could be for the better, clean up any junk you have and start fresh.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

If Windows is tied to a Microsoft account then it will activate itself again just fine by logging into the account and if I remember right will prompt you to login to that account during a clean install too. Do a clean install for sure but worst case you have to re-enter the key and you have to do a phone activation which is about 5 to 10 minutes.
