First time builder, need some final advice (AMD)

kemoni221

Hello! As I am a first time builder I'm not sure about compatibility problems that might occur with my build, so I need some advice. This PC is going to be used mainly for 3d editing and animation (mainly game assets, rendering doesn't really bother me) and some gaming.

I'm not buying a monitor, because I already have one in 1680x1050 60 Hz, and plan on buying a 1080p or 1440p monitor in the future.

CPU

AMD Ryzen 5 2600

GPU

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Windforce OC 6GB

RAM

HyperX Fury DDR4 2x8GB 2400 MHz (also a bit of a saving here, the performance difference caused by RAM frequency is too small for me to care, and 16GB is big enough)

Motherboard

With this I'm not so sure. Originally I went for Asus ROG STRIX B350-F Gaming, but I think that Gigabyte AX370 Gaming 3 is going to be good, and it's about 30% cheaper where I live.

PSU

A90 series Chieftec 550W 80 Plus Gold

Drives

SSD GoodRam IRDM GEN2, 120GB, SATA III (just for the OS and some programs)

HDD Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB, SATA/600, 7200RPM, 64MB cache

Case

Modecom Oberon PRO Silent (AT-OBERON-PS-10-000000-0002)

Let me know what you think, thanks in advance!

Personally I would either substitute or add in a M.2 SSD instead of the one you've added in. In terms of the motherboard, personally I am a bit of an ASUS fanboy, and the ones I have had have never given me cause for issue. Check the reviews and specifications to see what's best for you. The power supply OEM is not one I am familiar with, and for peace of mind, I again advise you to look for reviews. It is much better to pay for a decent PSU rather than a crappy one, just to have it fail, or worse, take out your entire system. I found that out the hard way.

Other than that all I can say is good luck on your build!

Bow down to me humans.

I can't help if you don't quote me. How am I supposed to know if you need my premium support? Now starting at £399.99 a year.

Also, be a sport and mark the correct answer as the correct answer. It will help pour souls in the future when they are stuck and need guidance.

"If it works, proceed to take it apart and 'make it work better.' Then cry for help when it breaks." - Me, about five minutes ago when my train of thought wandered.

I've never heard of GoodRam but that's probably just me being clueless (if its a good company go for it but you might wanna look into like Samsung or Crucial and other more known companies) You should also go for a 2TB drive instead of 1 unless you're absolutely certainly sure you won't need more (but even then its only like 15 dollars for an entire terabye more)

That case and PSU could probably be replaced with better picks
