I kinda see consoles like smartphones, their OS is locked in and you cannot do what you want with them. Spec wise something like the PS4 is like a normal PC, and the OS is nothing than a fork of FreeBSD (unix-like distro common on embedded devices) hugely modified by Sony

I just see consoles for what they are: devices designed around the primary purpose of playing video games on and, in the case of Sony and Microsoft, to consume multimedia. Basically, to be an "entertainment system."

 

I feel like trying to say consoles are like PCs is just PC gamers wanting to find more ways to make themselves feel superior.
