Bridging router and modem issue

The ISP: windstream

Router: TP-Link AC1900 Archer C9 v1

modem: (isp provides) action-tec t3200

issue: router keeps disconnecting from bridge which is connected using pppoe. I’ve been looking around online and can’t seem to find a solution. MTU size is 1480 which it recommends and what it was default. The WAN just doesn’t connect to the router sometimes or it takes very long, and it will randomly be disconnected. Please help.

So first question considering the hardware, how old is that modem?

So what happens if you direct connect a PC to the modem lan ports out of curiosity.
