Hi all,

I'm working on a near-scratch build and I need to create a bracket of some kind that will help me affix a Flex ATX PSU to the rest of the case. Anyone else tackled that? I also need to craft my own GPU bracket that can help me mount a card that's connected to the motherboard through the use of a 90 degree riser card. Help on that front would be great too.

Have a good one!

Depends on what you are making and how you want to fasten it, could be as simple as some adhesive tape or a custom cut sheet of acrylic for mounting. As for a GPU bracket you would be best to cannibalize an old case or get a dedicated mount.

I've actually gotten started on a build log if you want to check it out:

I just shared a picture or two of the area I want the PSU to be (It's the silvery little box on the right, near the cockpit):

The thing is, I'm trying to figure out how to mount this whole thing on the wall, so that PSU needs to be pretty secure, and I want it to be attached to something more structurally rigid than the Millennium Falcon toy itself. I was thinking of attaching an acrylic plate to an internal skeleton I'm going to build into the ship, but I don't really know how to get the acrylic affixed to the PSU. The little Flex-ITX unit seems to want to be screwed into the case by four screws along its back end, but that's not ideal for my application. There do appear to be very shallow screw holes along the base of the PSU, but I don't have screws for those or anything.

Do you think bolting an acrylic plate to the rest of the case and then using Velcro straps or something to adhere the PSU to the acrylic would work? Seems like the jankiest idea ever as I'm typing it now.

You can use velcro or something like 3M dual lock to mount the PSU, if you want to actually bolt it into place making an acrylic bracket on the back end and a ledge on the other to grab a hold of the PSU is common practice in most case mounts.

Ok, so like an elongated U bend shape, with a cutout for the fan to vent on one side and another cutout for the intake on the opposite end?

Wouldn't say it's necessary to have a whole piece from front to back of the PSU, a single bracket on the fan side and a little something to hold the other end would be enough.

If you want something simple you could adhere the PSU onto a sheet of acrylic and then have that mount into the case for the PSU to be removable.

Awesome advice, thank you. This is one of those areas in this build where can feel my lack of experience. I'll look at what I can create with this guidance ?
