GPU NOT USING 100% and STUTTERING ! HELP!!!!

JuanDeag8

Hi, I recently have been having issues with my computer recently. My fps has been considerably lower in certain games (higher in some) when i opened task manager i noticed only about 30-65% of the gpu was being used. When i was playing Far Cry 5 (wich i just got black friday) only 40% was being used but where getting 70 fps in ultra. In B04 (multiplayer) i usually had around 120 fps and now im getting 60-70 with a lot of stutter. Recent changes in my computer : New monitor (im using 2 one with 144hz), i updated my bios (bios before that was from april) i also updated my nvidia driver but im pretty sure its not the problem since i had it prior to updating. I have a gtx 1080 from gigabyte g1 gaming and a r7 2700x so i know the problem isnt the cpu bottlenecking the card

A lot of times the problem can be bad optomization for the game on pc, usually this keeps you at a max of like 80% useage or in the case of SLI assasins creed origins 2% but that is a rare case. But I get 97% playing blops 4 so I know that game seems to be well optomized. Install msi afterburner and put the in game overlay on and see what that says for gpu useage just to give a really good idea of what you are actually using. Also I get alot of hitches in blops 4 and a consistant 100fps so I am not sure if that is just you, although I am meaning like 5-10 a game so if you mean a real constant stutter then i am not sure, try activision support for that.

Looking at the cpu could tell you if there was a usage issue there. Looking at all core usage.

Montor resolution? I assume 1440 with 120 frames on bo4. Meaning you turned some settings down.

I'm been having major performance variations this weekend. AC Odyssey benchmarked 51fps at very high on Saturday, 41 Sunday, and 71 yesterday. Turned out to be different Nvidia drivers each day. I never expected to see such wild variations due to driver updates.

I have found that certain apps running in memory can cause weird issues like this. I had to stop using the Intel Turbo Boost Max utility on my 7900X system because it would cause issues exactly like this when gaming with SLI. I could turn it on / off and watch my GPU usage go up or down like a switch. I've also run into certain issues running the Samsung Magician software.

Try disabling apps that are running one at a time to see if it stops the issue.

Well, take a screen shot of the system usage. gpu, ram, storage and cpu. I get 150-180 frames at 1080p with my 1080. Haven't used the driver that came out yesterday though.

there might be some funkiness with vsync for the 20 series and multi-monitor, maybe they messed it up even more and it affects certain monitors on the 10xx. see if turning off vsync/running 1 monitor helps.

So i wasnt able to take screen shots but with osd with msi afterburner i saw that when i was playing (i took b04 max settings 1080p 100 scale resolution) i was getting around 150 fps at first with around 97% gpu usage and 70 to 80% cpu usage when quickly it went down to around 100-115 fps mainly 105 the gpu was around 97 too and the cpu was more around 50-60% and the small freezes were really common and made me die a lot. ram was arround 7000 used it think but i have 16gbs so its fine. but the stutter was really annoying and it made me feel like i was playing on a potato or a laptop (used to play on one with intel hd and those type of stutters were common but only in harder games to run) so it felt like i was trying to run a game in 4k max settings when i wasnt

Putting it on manual makes it pretty bad on my other rigs. Have you played zombies at all? If so does it lag the same way?
