deleted ubuntu partition, not booting anymore

Hucke

Hey guys, so today I wanted to delete Ubuntu from my second drive, so I just deleted the partition it was in. My Win10 was running fine at this stage, afterwards I did a restart my computer and now I get the error message: no such device: ''ABC123'' Entering rescue mode... grub rescue>. My windows is installed at my first drive so I tried unplugging the second one where Ubuntu was installed and boot again but I got the same error message.

Linux Grub replaced the Windows Master Boot record.

You need a Windows install  disk to reinstall it.

Commands are in part 3

https://www.easeus.com/partition-master/repair-mbr-windows-10.html

Intel 12400F | 2x8 3000Mhz Corsair LPX | ASRock H570M-ITX  | Noctua DH-N14 | Corsair MP50 480GB | Meshilicious | Corsair SF600Fedora

Thanks let me know if I said something useful. Cheers!

So basically I need a Windows 10 ISO and boot with the device its on? Will I be able to boot it without entering the menu where I'll get the error?

It doesn't matter which drive is your primary/secondary. Because you installed Ubuntu second, its bootloader overwrote the Windows bootloader in the Master Boot Record (MBR) which means you have to replace the MBR with the Windows boot loader since GRUB is in a panic.

You can use the media creation tool to make a bootable usb stick: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Once created reboot, and boot to the USB (F10 or whatever it is for your PC)

Choose "Repair your Computer"

Click on Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt

Run:

bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
bootrec.exe /fixmbr
bootrec.exe /fixboot

Reboot.

Update.

With my bootable usb it started the setup of windows, there wasnt an option to repair, just to install. So I went with installing it on my second drive which worked. Now I restarted and have an option to select whichever volume I like to boot from, so thanks guys. How can I now cleanly remove the OS I installed to my 2nd drive?
