Building a PC, for streaming plex.

I'm looking to build my first computer. But I'm not sure what my priority should be, (i.e cpu, or gpu) for what the computer will be mainly used for. I want something that runs fast, and powerful. Light gaming, but mostly media streaming and transcoding. I want to be able to run Plex, in full 1080p, on multiple devices, without a hitch in rendering, while also using the computer normily, without it slowing down. I'm sure RAM also plays a part in all of this.

What is your budget?

Will you be watching plex off your network? (ie someone in a different household watches it) because that's where the powerful cpu matters. otherwise your streaming it straigght from you storage computer without much transcoding

Mostly within my network. But my sister occasionally streams my content at her house as well. And I sometimes go to my brothers to hangout and watch a movie.

I'm usually watching stuff on it, while my kids are also using it. Right now, I'm using a qnap to stream everything. It doesn't do well with 1080p content streaming at the same time.

I'm not trying to go so out, but also not trying to be cheap either. At most, $2,000.

For streaming, you need cpu cores and a  gpu I assume you want storage so ill put a 16tb raid array  and an ssd and 10gb ethernet.

I put a 1800x instead of a 2700x as the 1800x is 100$ cheaper and less than 10% worse.

Great suggestions my brother. I think I'm going to go with the AMD 1800X. Question, is the motherboard you suggested future proof that you know of? Meaning, can I sometime in the future upgrade the CPU, or any other component if needed. I mean, I'm hoping to get a long life out of whatever I build, without having to upgrade anything.

The mobo should be future proof for a while now, AMD plans to support it through 2020 which is after 7nm so you should be fine.
