Thinking of buying a new graphics card.

JustYawn

My specs are:

Cpu: i5 4690K at 4.5 GHz

Motherboard: Asus Z97-A

PSU: 650 watt

Ram: x2 8Gb DDR3 1600MHz

Currently I have an Sapphire RX 480 4gb nitro+

The ideal purchase for a new graphics card would be an RX Vega 64 of some kind since I like AMD and I have a freesync monitor. I'm wondering if my 650 Watt Power supply is enough or if any other components need an upgrade. I have heard that GPU prices are going down by about 20% this month, is it worth waiting for that and should I keep waiting to buy anything until the next gpu lineup from amd comes?

Vega 64 is a terrible value atm, not really even something you should consider unless you’re able to find a decently priced used one 650 Watts should be okay, your psu may be at high usage most of the time during any intensive task. Also prepare to have an ac in your room if you plan to game in any season other than winter

i would  wait for amds next line up if your strictly wanting amd

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I have two monitors.

One 144Hz 1080p

One 60Hz 1440p

Then there's really no reason to upgrade from an RX 480 yet, just lower your AA/Shadows to get your fps up.

Wait for next gen GPUs.

I kinda feel like I'm struggling with only 4gb of VRAM tho.

That only really affects textures , and you were supposed to buy the 8GB...RIP.

Either way first gen Vega is kind of rough, better off waiting to see second generation and NAVI.

I would not but a graphics card rn. The rx480 is still a good performing card. I recommend waiting for next gen nvidia or amd cards. If you want new one anyways the best choice would probably be 1070 or 1070ti because of your cpu(older gens i5s are starting to show their age). I am probably going to pick one from red team too(if they will be atleast somewhat decent), currently have gtx 1060 and 1080p 144hz freesync.

Do you think a gtx 1080 would be a good deal?
