I am thinking about getting the Asus X370-F motherboard with a Ryzen 5 2600x CPU but since this is my first ever build what happens if I get the Motherboard and it doesn't have the latest BIOS update for my CPU?

Theres' a bootkit you can get from AMD that includes a cheap raven ridge cpu for free that you can use to update and then send it back. On the other hand the place you buy it from might be able to do it for you with one of their own.

You can see the bootkit here: https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/2Gen-Ryzen-AM4-System-Bootup.aspx

You can always just get a usb, format it to FAT32, dump the .CAP file in and flash it in bios. But usually I don't flash the bios unless there is a function I really need or if the board is giving me issues. Bios flashing is also risky if you corrupt your bios by accident. Those boards should work out of the box if it was made recently. But if you really are worried about corrupting your bios when flashing, you can get the Asus boards with Bios Flashback, and never worry about bios corruption from flashing.

Also depending on how far updated the bios is they have an option with some to update from inside windows.. dont know if its safer or not. If you have a good mobo you should be fine tho... id stay away from gigabyte have had sooo much issues fried my last am4 giga even tho it had a 2nd bios switch... an still didnt work lol usually the backup bios is a good thing to have... when it works. do your research an make sure there is anything to really be gained by updating... like especially with ryzen you need to make sure your running your ddr4 at its top speed and an outdated bios could mess that up if you got fast ram.
