A special new kind of win 10 black screen just for me.

Well I'm helping to fix a "black screen" win 10 laptop but it's more then just a normal "BSD"(.exe all ready exists) And to add insult to injury it's all in franch that I do not know.

-First off the screen is black(I managed to add the icons by ending explorer.exe and starting again).

-The task bar is working but noting is working on click.

-running some programs work but most programs get errors like:

- Microsoft edge:Explorer.exe Class not registered

- and trying to enter any file gets me Explorer.exe attempt to reference a token that does not exist

And the best part... I created a USB with windows to do a "repair"... And no options work, laterally noting exept the CMD works.

This looks like a bad local group policy. Try this- open CMD as admin and type in gpupdate /force

Wait for it to finish, type y to confirm and reboot the laptop.

I did it once before but now I'm getting.

Failed to update the computer policy

Failed to update the user policy

Can you fully reinstall windows? Also make sure to reinstall the windows to the usb disk too, it might be corrupted too.

Right, there you go then. It's a GPO issue. Go to Services and find "Group Policy Client" service, reset that service and try again with the gpupdate.

It won't let me restart the service.

Okay, open CMD as admin and type this:

net stop gpsvc and wait a minute, then type this:

net start gpsvc

Well this is getting more interesting.

For stop I get:"the gpsvc service is not launched"

For start I get:"System error 5 occurred

Access refused"

Silly question, are you the administrator on the laptop? Can you check in Settings -> Accounts -> Your info

right... Back to CMD, type in net user and click enter. Post the result here.

Sorry it's on franch(I use translater on my phone). But it is saying that the user I'm on is the admin.

And after that it's saying:"Errors affected the execution of the command."

I work in a PC repair shop and I have 2x Acer laptops and 1 Desktop PC that has been brought in just this morning with this same issue - All boot into the blue troubleshoot page where you select the keyboard language, and if I can get them to boot, I get a black screen with a non-responsive taskbar, no network, no icons or anything. This must be affecting thousands. I need a solution! Having to backup data and reinstall 3 machines isn't really an option.

So it's a update thing probably... I'm working for 2 days now on the laptop and I have no idea what is wrong, it just dosnt respond to any "fix" I try.

This sounds exactly like something that happens if lsass.exe is not working correctly. Windows freaks out like that and permissions errors everywhere. I know this because I messed around with it once and it really screws up to the point where click the restart button says that permission is denied and then just crashes. Check if lsass.exe is running.

If it is, then Windows is corrupted beyond repair. Just reinstall the OS fresh.
