DIY Second monitor

Ubuntubr

So I was thinking of building myself a secondary screen for my desktop to use it for streaming and other stuff while I game on my other panel. I have an old LG monitor that the inverter part of the PCB short circuited. After that I only had a white screen and no video signal. So I was looking on eBay to buy a controller board so I could use this monitor again. The serial number for it is: LM185WH1
  (TL)(C1)

But on ebay all I found were:
LM185WH1
 (TL)(H1)

LM185WH1
 (TL)(A1)

And so forth. Is there a difference between these or can I buy one of these controller boards and plug the LCD panel on to it?

My inclination is to say it's not worth the cost to repair a monitor that's that old and crappy.

Agreed, I don't know for sure but I think it'd probably be better just to buy a new monitor unless you really can't afford it and you're interested in doing this.

Well I know it's an old LCD panel, but I am not currently living in the US. Here where I live a new monitor is too expensive for my current budget. A new panel would be 500-700 (60hz) and even more as the refresh rate climbs. The controller would be 100. I already have a 240hz monitor so this one would just be so I could have an extra and make it more portable.
