How I Reunlocked My Galaxy S2

T.Vengeance

Backstory (but not necessary so skip to the 2nd paragraph if you like)

If you live Canada like me and have a GS2, you'll know that a few months ago, an update came for it. For me at least, this was a great upside and then a huge letdown. I never was interested in flashing a custom ROM so I stuck with the samsung touchwiz. Getting an upgrade to jellybean was a huge plus. Suffice it to say, when the update came for my "unlocked phone" it got relocked and I was left without carrier reception. I thought maybe downloading a custom rom for this would fix it, but it did not. I then tried the Galaxy_S Unlock app which did the job....temporarily. Every time I would reboot the phone it would relock it.

A few weeks after, I decided to find the stock firmware from http://www.androidfirmwares.net/PhoneFirmware and found the firmware PDA name from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928 . After flashing the stock rom, I was left with gingerbread 2.3 with touchwiz (ugh, looks horrible going from aokp). I tried the aforementioned app and it worked even with a restart.

(story bit) So then, me missing the features of the custom rom, I decided to flash it back to see if it worked. No luck. So I redid what I did before.

This time I made a copy of the efs folder in the root. I then flashed the custom rom and replaced the efs folder with the copied version. Problem solved! I don't know if this situation pertains to me only; hopefully yes. But if not, your welcome :P....that is if this also worked for you.
