how bad is this laptop?

so iv been looking for gaming laptop lately and i saw a deal on amazon for asus rog strix gl702vs with gtx 1070 and 12gb ram and g sync. i heard a lot of people with temp problem. but i bought a cooling pad and im planning to crank my fans up. so did i make a bad purchas im worried.

Do they have laptops with 8th gen Intel processors out yet? If so I'd look for one of those.

I actually couldn't give a valid opinion as I do not have the laptop - I was merely highlighting that a return is optional if you're regretting your purchase.

It's the cooling system fault, a powerful GPU like 1070 shouldn't exist in thin chassis, otherwise it will be a disaster. Remember law of thermodynamics. Even with cooling pad, max fans, undervolting and repasting, the throttling problem will still probably exist.

 

IMO you should avoid GL-VS (and also most Asus ROG laptops since they are generally quite mediocre and yet overpriced), if you need a portable laptop with powerful GPU like 1070, go for MSI GE Raider. Or, something with 1070 Max-Q like MSI GS63VR, Clevo P950, Gigabyte Aero 15X.
