Can you tie in multiple systems with a command via Google Assistant?

New to utilizing smart home tech and Google Assistant but I can code and make web apps. So what I want to know, is if I make my own wifi enabled lights, can I somehow tie them in with my Hue lighting system. I know I can not directly add them to the hue app but maybe via a 3rd party app?

I know that there are some 3rd party lights that work with the hue bridge however I can't really recommend them. I think homemade and third party bulbs actually will connect to the hue software if you have a hue bridge.. If you don't know there's a company called lifx that makes better bulbs than philips that work with google home.

The only reason I'm here is that I have homework that I don't want to do

It took me half an hour to find where to change my signature :(
