What resolution should I set Kodi to in its settings menu?

all my movies and tv shows are in 1080p or less but my TV is 3840x2160.

 

Also is there a way to have a local file of a theme song play when I click a movie collection?

I have a similar setup in that I have a Kodi powered HTPC on a 4K TV.  I use the system entirely at 4K and just leave scaling of content to Kodi.  Frankly, in my own subjective experience, I can't really see any problems with a 1080p film upscaled by Kodi's less than fancy scaling options though some diehards may prefer to rely on their TV's scaling functions.

4k. Plus you can do a bit of Video upscaling in Kodi as well.
