Is an i7 3770k for 150 euros a good deal?

I think I will look into how much difference in performance there is between the i7 and the ryzen 5 and will decide based on that. And also I will ask the guy selling the i7 how heavily it was used and if it was oc'd much.

A 1400 at 3.9ghz~ (its max realistic overclock) should be around a 3770k @ 4.2ghz or something like that, and a 3770k can realistically overclock to around 4.5ghz or so. So the 3770k should no question have a bit of an advantage, but it's not likely to be an advantage you'll notice, plus that also means investing more money in a dead platform for a product(s) without a warranty and with no idea how it was treated by the previous owner.

Personally I would rather have the warranty than the bit extra performance. Also being able to re-use the DDR4 in a future build and/or being able to upgrade to an R5 1600/1600v2 (Zen 2 variant) would be a nice plus.

Do you guys think buying a used i7 3770k for 150 euros is a good deal?

I don't know how much the cpu was used, the seller doesn't specify it.

I don't know if I could bargain the price down a little bit, but maybe I will try if I can.

New 7700k's are going for more than 300 euros here and 8700k's for over 400..

So you're looking at 135+60~ motherboard+60~ DDR4?

Do you already have an LGA1155 motherboard and DDR3?

If you don't have an LGA1155 motherboard (preferably a Z67/Z77) or DDR3, then I'd go with Ryzen since then you have a warranty. If you do have a motherboard or RAM, then 3770k.

Judging by what I've experienced so far, 1155 mobos are relatively expensive sort of ruining this deal imo...

Make sure to tag and/or quote people so they get notified... :P:D

My gear:

                                                         Ryzen 7 2700X / Gigabyte GA-X370M-Gaming 3 / R9 380 Nitro 4GB/ 16GB DDR4 2133 / 225GB OCZ Trion 100 / 3TB of hard drive storage

Memory, Video Cards and SSDs are too expensive.  I would wait imo.  What is your current CPU?

I have an 8gb stick of ddr3, I plan on buying another one in the future. And I have an i5-3340 on a cheap h61 mobo as of now, but if i buy the i7 then I'll get a z77 so that I can oc it.

So 3770k (150) + Z77 board (80?) + 8GB DDR3 (60~) -> 290 w/ 16gb ram.

R5 1400 (135) + b350 board (70~) + 16gb DDR4 (140~) -> 350 w/ 16gb ram. But you can also sell the 8gb of DDR3, so 320~ total cost.

For what's probably about a 30 Euro difference I'd go with Ryzen just to have a warranty and a more modern platform. Plus you'd also need a cooler to overclock the 3770k whereas the stock Ryzen cooler should be good enough.

The z77 boards I found are all going for around 70-80 so yeah.

I think I will look into how much difference in performance there is between the i7 and the ryzen 5 and will decide based on that. And also I will ask the guy selling the i7 how heavily it was used and if it was oc'd much.

Okay, you've got a fair point. I always tended to gravitate towards AMD anyways, I hate Intel's monopoly in the market.

Bought my 3770k new back in the day. Still haven't got around to pushing the oc. At 4.6 right now. Gonna go for a bit more and delid after. Don't feel like getting another board, ram and cpu so id prefer to keep my old stuff. If you are getting everything, go with what ever you could afford.

I'd recommend looking for an i3-8100, as they perform a lot better than an R5 1400.

An overclocked 1400 has better minimums and very similar averages.
