Need Advice on Server Rack Pr0n

I'm looking for ideas or suggestions on setting up an inexpensive server rack for home use.  I am looking for a way to mount my NAS, UPS and Switch with the potential to expand.

Go to Ebay. Find some DIY racks for the maximum depth that you're likely to encounter and buy as many U's as you need. Each U is 1.75 inches so this gives you the height of just the servers themselves.

You can look into shelves that hold the rackmount chassis in place with screws or have the chassis on [sliding rails] for quick access (definitely important for certain machines).

I usually recommend a 15U for starters since you can add blank cases to hold tools and KB/M's for spots not in use. You can also modify the server cabinet to be enclosed with a fan or ten on top for directed airflow out of the area. Make sure to add filters to areas where dust is prevalent.

I used a small server cabinet for a friend a couple summers ago. It had their router, switch, server and NAS. Smoked glass window. He's a bit older, otherwise I woulda gone RGB.

I'm actually surprised nobody has suggested this yet, but there's this thing around the homelab community we call a lackrack.

You basically buy a lack table from IKEA, and its the perfect distance (~18 inches) between the legs where network hardware and shelves fit perfectly inside.

I purchased a 2 post / 45u rack.  Now I'm waiting for it to show.

I posted a link to it in my post just above yours actually ;-P

@Deaerator That is freaking huge dude, are you going to be able to get that through the door and stand it up? Plans to bolt it to the floor? Think that's like 7ft for most 45u enclosures.

I didn't want a 7ft rack but there was no real option for in betweens.  It will be bolted to the concrete floor in the basement.

There's 25u, 32u, 42u - just depends on the vendors. Hell if you lived in the mid-atlantic area you could come get my 32u rack for free which is about 5ft on coasters.
