Strange Router Behavior

I came home for Thanksgiving and accessed my family's wireless network. Browsing works fine, except that I can't access youtube for some odd reason. I'm going to assume it's something with the adapter on my computer for the following reasons:

 

  • Other devices in the house have no problem accessing youtube
  • When I try to ping a website in command prompt on my laptop, it keeps timing out the request (regardless of website)
  • All other websites are accessible on my laptop so far

Should I just go straight to re-installing wireless adapter drivers or is there something else I should try first?

It could be a strange issue if you use hibernate once in a while your adapter doesn't work normally, happened to me, skype and some other stuff works, nothing pings. Restarting the pc seems to fix the issue.

Also what kind of an adapter are you running usb or the integrated one ?

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

EDIT: Everything works when connected to a neighbor's wireless network. Is there a way to flush all stored information and settings about my home network and start fresh with it?

you could try flushing the DNS

 

Click the Start button.
Enter cmd in the Start menu search field.
Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
Type the following command and press Enter: ipconfig /flushdns
