GTX 1060

I'm building a mini ITX PC with these specifications:

  • Intel Core i5-7400 3.0Ghz
  • MSI B250I Pro (LGA1151, B250, DDR4)
  • Gskill DDR4 RipjawsV PC19200 16GB (2x8GB) Dual Channel F4-2400C15D-16GVR
  • Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB
  • Western Digital 1 TB Sata3 Blue WD10EZEX
  • Corsair CXM450

I've bought all the parts except for the VGA. I was planning to get GTX 1060, either Zotac 3GB Single Fan or Inno 3D 3GB Compact.

Unfortunately, they're out of stock everywhere. If its available, the price would be around USD225.

Do you think it's get a GTX 1050 Ti instead, or RX480 4GB ?

I haven't found any RX 480 for mini ITX.

If you're looking at one of the 160 dollar 1050ti models, I'd just pony up the 225 dollars for the 1060 3 GB.

Look on classifieds in your area for a good deal on a Maxwell card, or equivalent R9 card.

AFAIK There are no mini RX x80 cards. HIS has one announced but I don't think it ever got released.

I'd get a 1060 6 gig, since the 1060 3 gig is basically trash (NOT the same chip inside)

Could go R5 instead of the i5 (Not alot of mini-itx options, but still enough). A 480 would be better (Dont know any small models for it though), or you could look used.

Basically trash? So you would rather get the 1050 Ti in the price range then?

I really hate what miners did to the 1060 (who tf mines with a *60 Nvidia card anyway lmao) The EVGA 1060 SC 6gb is a nice itx friendly card I use in the itx rig.

Compered to the 1050ti it is better, but you did mention the rx 480 4 gig, which I was comparing the 1060 3g to.

Alright, sure the 1050 Ti has more VRAM, and some games at those 1080p High Settings use more than 3GB of VRAM, but it is almost a hundred dollars cheaper than the 6GB version, and can still give similar performance but slowed a little due to cycles.

Oh, so it's true that they're using 1060 for mining? Is it happened worldwide? :-/

No... 1060 6GB is too expensive. 1060 3GB is just as much as the money I can spend.

Which R9 do you suggest, that is equivalent to 1060, and have mini form factor?

Oh crap, I'm not sure any of them have a mini form factor, yeah go with the 3GB 1060.
