How to reduce the noise of my PSU?

Hi,

I have a Seasonic M12II-750 EVO, but compared to the rest of my system, this seems to be making a lot of noise and I was wondering is there a way to reduce that? It is currently mounted with the fan pointing downwards. Is is possible that it will make less noise if it is upwards for some reason? Also I have seen this video

where the guy simply removes the fan grill - is this worth doing?

P.S. Sure, I could have tried these options before asking, but because I am lazy and if any of you have already tried this, please let me know of the results or any other ideas/tricks that you know of :D

Yes, as long as your PSU is facing the bottom and taking air through a bottom filter intake.

remove filter and check sound levels.....also try removing psu from case and plug in and play with psu on mouse mat-check sound levels

by now you should know if noise level is caused by case airflow restrictions or psu itself...

if case ...try without filter or new wire filter with rubber gromits

if psu ....replace psu fan

I just flipped it, so now the fan is upwards, facing into the case and the PSU is much quieter now. I guess it is something with the fan's bearing that it makes noises when it is upside down.

Thanks :)

be sure to clean the filter as well, if it gets dirty enough it won't filter anything
