Most major electronics retailers will accept e-waste, such as Staples, Best Buy, etc. Big cities may also have an e-waste facility. If you put it in your recycling bin, they'll probably just toss it when it gets to the recycling depot - or they'll just refuse to pickup your recycling that week (depending on how much of a stickler they are to the rules). If you put it in the trash, you're essentially contributing to polluting the environment, and wasting valuable reusable materials.
