[URGENT] Connecting cx550m to 2x 6pin gpu

So since its semi modular psu i connected 24 pin and 8 pin cpu

Im left with connecting 2x 6pin gpu (7870) and connectors on psu that i have left are 

Peripheral

6+2 pcie 

4+4 cpu

I got cable 8 pin to double 6+2 pin

Am I allowed to connect that 8 pin to 4+4 cpu and simply connect two 6 pin conmectors and leave +2 hanging or do i connect it in some other way that i cannot figure out

GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

RAM: 16GB HyperX RAM

CPU: R5 3600 

Motherboard: ASRock B450 Fatal1ty gaming K4

OS: Win 11 Pro 64-bit

The 6+2 pins connectors are designed so that they can be used for 6 pin connectors or the +2 can be used for an 8 pin connector. It's fine to leave the +2 just hanging.

Dont use CPU for PCIe. Different voltage. The best way is PCIe 8pin to 2 6pin adapter.

I know but i have 8 pin on the other end to connect to psu can I connect it to 4+4 CPU or no

Then I would need 6pin to 8 pin adapter so that 8 pin can go 2X 6+2 pin because I dont have 8 pin on psu except for CPU

PCIe 8pin is the same thing as 6+2 pin.

Im aware but look up picture of cx550M and u will see that there is no 8 pin end on psu only 4+4 pin cpu everything else is 6pin and im given 8pin to 2x 6+2pin cable

The 4+4 pin connector is for the the connector on the motherboard.

The 6+2 pin is for the graphic card

The 8 pin side of the 6+2pin cable into the PSU

 

On the PSU, it should say "6+2PCI-E & 4+4CPU", the two ports next to it design in a way that you can plugged in the 6+2 pin cable or the 4+4 cable if you have it.

The 8 pin to dual 6+2 pin should go into the PCIe connectors on the PSU end. The 4+4 pin CPU power cable has nothing to do with PCIe and will not work in any way with PCIe cables or connectors.

Can you look up picture of power supply there is no 8 pin pcie end on power supply

@LolcroknAhh, I see what you mean. For CPU power, use the permanently attached cable and plug to 8pin to dual 6+2 pin into the PCIe/4+4pin CPU connector on the PSU.

Yeah, just looked up the PSU and see what you mean. Connect the dual PCIe 6+2 pin connector to the PCIe/4+4pin (bottom right connector)

I've made an edit in case you didn't see. That bottom right 8 pin port is the for the 6+2 pin PEG cable. Since the 4+4 pin cable consist of 12V and ground wires, they design it in a way that they are interchangeable in which you can plug in a second 4+4 cable if you wish (this is not relevant in your case).

That's incorrect. It'st he same +12v, the pinout is different though. You'd have to swap the positions of the yellow wires and force the connector into the GPU.

 

I don't always have the right PSU, I've stripped wires and soldered 6-pins onto PSUs that don't normally have them, like Dell Optiplex PSUs to put Quadro FX3800s in on the OEM PSU.

 

Is it dangerous to jank a PSU? Yes. Does it work if you don't mess with it? Yes.
