Ryzen 5 Build Advice.

elKz

My current system (4770K) is 4 years old last month, I thought It was a about time for an upgrade because of the fact I'm having some motherboard issues that are causing boot issues. Anyway, I decided to go for a Ryzen build because If we're being honest, why would I stick with Intel this time round? But I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to Ryzen so I thought I'd ask for some help/advice.

This is what I've come up with so far: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/xmCM7h

Any parts not on this list like hard drives etc, I'll be removing from my current system and adding to the new one.

Is there anything I should add/remove/consider?

Other than memory  it looks awesome, just finished my switch from a 6700k to 1700, super happy with it.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Just in case you didn't know, the VRMs are basically identical between the K5 and K7

Then what's the difference between the two? They look about the same.

I'll take a look at the K7 before I order it, didn't get much time to research everything and as I'm not all that clued up I'd of probably missed this so thanks.

The point I'm saying is the K7 isn't worth it IMO.  You pay an extra $100 for very little

Hmm. Seems like the difference is more fan/pump headers, U.2 (IDK what that is, so it's not a plus), dual LAN, and better audio. Don't flagship mobs get BIOS updates faster though?

As far as I can tell they've been getting BIOS updates at the same time but you can check by going to the support pages and checking when each most recent equivalent update.

Honestly, I'd avoid Gigabyte if you want fast updates.  Take this with a pretty big grain of salt because it's only based on one experience, but I got a Gigabyte motherboard (I think Z97, but might have been H97) once and they stopped pushing updates after less than a year.  And it really needed them.  That's the last time I got anything from Gigabyte.

In contrast, I still get updates for my Z97 MSI motherboard.  I got one like a month ago.

On that note, If you're switching motherboards stay away from MSI ryzen boards, even the highest end models have problems with boot times with the latest bios.

Good to know.  I've only had good experiences with MSI, but I've never bought a Ryzen system.

I've selected the above memory, the people I have building the system for me (unable to do it myself due to disability) have said the following:

I have produced the mains specification via the link below, the 3200MHz will have to be changed as we find that RAM above 2400MHz is not stable with this platform.

DEMAND that they use The Samsung B-dies.  Even if the builder only sets it up for 2400Mhz you can very easily change it yourself later.

I'm assuming B-die will mean that I have less instability issues?
