HIDevolution SSD Options Bombardment

I'm saving up for an HID laptop, Clevo chassis, and I just need some guidance choosing the best SSD for me, and the number of options are a little overwhelming. There's video editing in my future, so I've already decided on NVMe. I'm thinking about the Samsung 960 Pro because I've had a bad experience with reliability in the past, but holy hell that's A LOT more expensive.  My wallet wants to just settle for the "HIDevolution Approved" option, but my paranoia says to go all out so I don't have to worry about it. Reliability is far more important to me than marginal performance differences. I guess my ultimate question is this:

Is the 960 Pro worth the price in terms of reliability, or could I get the same thing with the least expensive option, or is there a sweet-spot somewhere in the middle?

960 EVO should provide plenty of performance for your needs until NVMe becomes less costly in the future.

Which laptop did you decide on?

Also depends on several factors what SSD you should be getting. What file sizes (resolution) are you using? and how often are you going to be getting new drives?

If you're working with massive fucking files (6k, 8k resolution), then you shouldn't break the bank with NVME ssds. Just stick a 1,2,4,tb 850 EVO and call it a day. TLC-3DVNAND is good enough.

If you're not going to switch drives for a WHILE because this is a long term investment get the 850 Pro. 10 year warranty. MLC. As expensive as PCIE and slower is the downside.

If you're going to swap drives every couple of years, 960 EVO is great. TLC-3DVNAND with a 3 year warranty and heck of a lot higher performance than the 850 pro but around the same price.

Depends what you need.
