Can I return?

I got a Nintendo Switch on release day and now the right joycon doesnt stay clicked in. I was wondering if I would be able to go to GameStop (where I bought it) and switch it out for a new one there based on Nintendo's warranty. I would hate to have to ship it cause then I have to wait to play MK8 Deluxe.

Is it currently within 30 days of purchase and do you have the receipt and original packaging? If so, yes.

No, as I said I got it on release (in case you didn't know was March 3rd, dont want that to come off rude as I know some people don't care about Nintendo releases) Do have packaging and receipt.

I would call Nintendo. Sometimes, the manufacturers might say to drop it off with certain info. Unsure if they would, but it's worth a try.
