College Laptop | What to Get with a PC

Hey, all I'm headed off to college next year (staying in a double dorm). I am bringing my Mini-ITX PC build but need a new laptop for on the go. Any suggestions?

The Goal: A laptop for on the go

  • Lightweight, portable, and decent battery life
  • While $800 would still work, I would like to save money here if possible, so around $500
  • Purpose
    • General College Student
      • Note-taking
      • Browsing
      • Light programming
  • I've considered a Chromebook but neither of the Universities I'm considering use Google Education

Thoughts? Any other ideas? I'm not particularly fond of the white but can't find anything else.

Thank you!

I loved my XPS 13 and biased towards it if you can afford it. Super lightweight, long battery life and great screen.

Too expensive.

Unless you want to game, go ThinkPad T400, with the extended battery pack it even gets up to 18 hours of web browsing battery life.

Plus, I love ThinkPads and hate Chromebooks.....
