Overclocking Ryzen: BIOS vs Ryzen Master

Hi all,

Want to OC my Ryzen 5 1600.

AMD has a new platform - RYZEN MASTER. Should I go with BIOS OC or use this program?

I remember AI SUITE wasn't the best for OC as it just upped your voltage like mad...

What yall think?

I've never tried OC with Ryzen Master but you might as well try both, I bet Ryzen Master does a good enough job, it's just a matter of how easy it is to use

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

both should work, i would use ryzen master to find my sweet stop then the bios just to make sure it stays there

Personally BIOS. Ryzen master used to require HEPT enabled but it doesn't now so it is at least viable. I still find the BIOS better though. Master is very basic and lacks the granular control the BIOS has.

Also master lacks the ability to do a p state overclock so if you overclock in master it will be a fixed all core 24/7 frequency overclock and won't down volt or downclock when idle. Which is bad for thermals and cpu life.

Guide in sig goes deeper in to how to do this :)

my idea is to use ryzen master to find the cpu sweet stop as its easier than rebooting all the time, and then fine tune it in bios

That would be an approach and now that Ryzen master doesn't require HPET enabled i'd consider it but sometimes to find your sweet spot you need things like LLC which are not available inside Ryzen master.

I guess i also lean toward bios because i'm comfortable with it and used to it. I can see how Ryzen master is a great utility for a novice though :)
