Ergonomic Mouse

MiQ

I recently started working as an engineer and having to use the

provided mouse for very long periods (and with deadlines can't

just say fuck it and go for a smoothie as i did when i was studying).

Unfortunately my hand doesn't seem to be designed for long periods

of mouse usage and send shooting pain through my aim not forgetting

the cramping.

Question

With most of you doing long periods of editing what in you opinion would

be a good ergonomic mouse for long periods of time.

Thanks

I would recommend mouse with the flat palm style instead of claw grips.

As well as a good smooth sliding surface for the mouse so that you do not have to exert much force in order to move the mouse, thus reducing the stress on your hand joints and muscles.

How large are your hands?

What grip style do you use?

What dpi do you usually work at? Would you be open to using lower sensitivities? (as weird as it sounds, the low sensitivity fps setup with the large mouse mat and long sweeping motions is good for ergonomics)

Best would be to head to a big electronics store where you can hand test some mice.

Every hand feels comfy on a different mouse. What mine likes, may be the death to yours.

For ergonomics, the Logitech MX Performance and its follow up are nice (for my hand). Else there are other kind of mice that you hold more like a soda can.

Main System:

Anghammarad : Asrock Taichi x570, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @4900 MHz. 32 GB DDR4 3600, some NVME SSDs, Gainward Phoenix RTX 3070TI

System 2 "Igluna" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

System 3 "Inskah" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

On the Road: Acer Aspire 5 Model A515-51G-54FD, Intel Core i5 7200U, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 120 GB SSD, 1 TB SSD, Intel CPU GFX and Nvidia MX 150, Full HD IPS display

Media System "Vio": Aorus Elite AX V2, Ryzen 7 5700X, 64 GB Ram DDR4 3200 Mushkin, 1 275 GB Crucial MX SSD, 1 tb Crucial MX500 SSD. IBM 5015 Megaraid, 4 Seagate Ironwolf 4TB HDD in raid 5, 4 WD RED 4 tb in another Raid 5, Gainward Phoenix GTX 1060

(Abit Fatal1ty FP9 IN SLI, C2Duo E8400, 6 GB Ram DDR2 800, far too less diskspace, Gainward Phantom 560 GTX broken need fixing)

Nostalgia: Amiga 1200, Tower Build, CPU/FPU/MMU 68EC020, 68030, 68882 @50 Mhz, 10 MByte ram (2 MB Chip, 8 MB Fast), Fast SCSI II, 2 CDRoms, 2 1 GB SCSI II IBM Harddrives, 512 MB Quantum Lightning HDD, self soldered Sync changer to attach VGA displays, WLAN

I really like the MX Performance, MX Master and variations (like M750, G700s...) because I can get a full palm grip with also the thumb on the side. They are shorter than most gaming mice but large and tall enough to fit my large hands.

But I know friends with smaller hands who prefer long mice like Razer/Roccat ones or even Microsoft old mice for example.

Try those two "general shape" variations (short but large, or long but flat) and see which one you like the most. If none of them works for you, consider more special mice like ergonomic ones or weird "Mad Catz" ones with a lot of settings, but I don't think that's better.

My favorite was the Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer. That one fitted my hand like it was a part of it.

Sadly the mouse has had lots of connectivity issues after a while. I got another one which had the same faults after the same time.

Now I just want to find one that fits like that.

The shape is somewhat different from what I know but I'm used to Logitech mice. Look after (if you can get your hands on them, on a big electronic store for example) the Roccat Kone series maybe.

There was also a Steelseries version of the wired Intellimouse Explorer, so that's what is closer to your old one (with gaming performances as a bonus). Other Steelseries mice might also be close (Rival 300 or 700?)

I got a computer store 2 busstops away, and the so called worlds largest electronics store (A Saturn) with a good option of "touchable" mice and keyboards.

Somtimes after work I walk into Saturn to check if there is some mouse that my hand is wanting to marry =)

But no luck so far.
