Is the FX-4300 still good for gaming (2017) ?

Wait, but why?

Horrible IPC meaning it cant handle the data being sent to it by the GPU and causing the CPU to be at 100% utilization and causing it to drop frames, stutter, lag etc... It will really cause a horrible gaming experience if you want any decent graphical settings to enrich the gaming world. If you are OK with graphics on low settings to not overwhelm the CPU, then you might be OK.

I'm planning on buying the AMD FX-4300 CPU because the current CPU that I have right now is very old and can't keep up with my R7 360 GPU, will it be a good choice?

I'm only gaming on my system as well as surfing the web, I might actually upgrade to a 1050 Ti or something similar to it because my budget is low.

AMD FX-4300:

Quad Core

Clocked @ 3.8GHz

Turbo Freq: 4.0GHz

Socket AM3+

Thanks for the reply but I have seen many videos with this CPU paired with a GTX 1050Ti tested on games like GTA 5, BF4 and more, and it ran well above 40 or 50 FPS on 720P Ultra-High Settings, but is it really that bad? Ok then.

if you already have an am3 motherboard then upgrading the cup to a higher fx is never a bad thing. I wouldn't recommend buying into the platform though.

I got 170 Euros, and Because I have a DDR2 Old DFI Mobo from 2008, it's getting pretty old, that is why i decided to upgrade my system, I talked with an expert at a local pc shop and he said he will try to find me a suitable upgrade based on my budget and hardware,

Originally i was panning on buying these from a shop here in my hometown:

AMD FX-4300 3.8GHZ 4-CORE (79.00 Euros)

ASROCK 960GM-VGS3 (57.00 Euros)

DDR3 ram ill buy from ebay so it fits my budget

Yes if you disable or reduce shadows, lighting, & physics! :D (it should manage 60fps then)

it can manage, but it's time to bury FX and go with something modern.

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Celeron-J1900-vs-AMD-FX-4300/m10898vs2879

if something is only twice as fast as my celeron J1900, it's probably not worth your time.

and you'd actually be better off buying into the 2c/4t intel pentium:

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-G4620-vs-AMD-FX-4300/3895vs2879

that'd also allow you to upgrade all the way up to i7 in the future, and will buy you into DDR4.

H110 chipset motherboard may require a BIOS update to work with a kabylake CPU

Also if you are going with a H110 (or B250) chipset, get cheaper 2133Mhz RAM since those chipsets dont support XMP.

I know that you need to upgrade the bios, but some say that it requires a skylake cpu to use first and then update the bios, Asus also announced that all 100 series mobos support kaby lake cpus but need an update, so that means I dont need a skylake cpu to start off with right?

Heres where I found this from by the way:

Some manufacturers just update their BIOS on the website but not the board itself. Maybe ask their support?
