Network wont connect

RS2007GOD

Hi all so im new to tho whole home network thing im completly new to it but am determined to get it working if possible.

What im trying to do is set up my streaming pc WITHOUT a capture card by sending a high bitrate OBS recording with NVENC over lan from my gaming pc to my streaming pc which then will encode it and stream via OBS. Or somthign like this..

Problem is when i connect the ethernet cable between the two pc's it says invalid ip configuration and wont let me connect? Iv setup homegroups and joined it on both pcs via router but wont let me join that either via the p2p network.

I understand i need to set up my streaming pc with an internet connection and share that connection with my gaming pc (or vise versa) this is the problem. what ever i do it just wont seem to connect or even network with each other but does reconise each others pcs with a yellow (!) mark.

HELP PLEASE AHHHHH

Are you sure all the wires are working? Are you sure all the ports are working? Are you sure you have all relevent drivers for the machines?

You'd need a crossover cable rather than a straight through which you most likely have, that is the first part of the problem.

yes i kinda figured that out now. i have a tia/eia 568b.2 utp cat.5e cable which seems to get some connectivity compared to the others, is this maybe a crossover cable?

Ah, is it a network cable then? If you go from a laptop/PC to the router does it work?

i cannot test that atm till tomorrow.. its late and cant be waking people up to test. from what ive read cat-5 and the 568b cable is crossover but this is 568b.2 and looks different to diagrams. I can get connectivity one way but not the other. may this still work for importing the recording from the gaming pc?

If it is that, not much. I don't get what you're doing really so I cannot offer alternatives but essentially Pc1 can get an IP and then Pc2 is asking Pc1 for an IP and Pc1 turns around and says well I only have one and it is mine and so therefore Pc2 is left with the same IP as Pc1 but Pc2's will not work.

Maybe an external graphics card will help, but don't quote me on that...

I guess if I understood what you were doing i may be able to help but I don't lmao...

There's got to be a simpler way than doing it by connecting two machines, physically.

No, it is not meant to work in that way. There is nothing wrong with the machines - just what you're doing isn't right and won't work
