New Year New Rig (Opinions and Planning)

Mike_diaz1996

Okay so I need some opinions I'm building my second rig ever i've carefully picked my components based off what I "think" I need so I'd like to hear what you guys think and if anyone else has some ideas feel free to share them. I've only picked my parts on PCPARTPICKER and haven't ordered anything just yet.

make a Ryzen build

he has a 1070 in his system, at the current point we don't know what will happen or how much performance will be gained/lost with the current system config

maybe hold off on the build until ryzen is benchmarked with available GPU's on the market right now and see what happens

****SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH IT'S REALLY TERRIBLE*****

Been married to my wife for 3 years now! Yay!

I sincerely advise you to wait for Ryzen CPUs before buying anything.

Also, with a 1070, you'd be better off with a 144Hz 1080p or 144Hz/60Hz 1440p monitor, but not 2x1080p 60Hz except if you absolutely need them for something else than gaming. But even then, you could go with a primary 1440p monitor with a second 1080p monitor if you really need two of them.

32GB of RAM is quite overkill even for tasks like content creation or even programming, you could save some money there, 16GB is perfect at the moment.

And not seeing an SSD in a 1600$ build is making me cringe :D

CPU : i7 8700k @5GHz, GPU : ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX, RAM : 2x8Go 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance, MB : ASUS Prime Z370-A, PSU : CM V850, Case :  NZXT S340, CPU Cooler : NZXT Kraken x62, Monitor : Acer Predator XB271HU 27" 1440p 165Hz, OS : Windows 10 Home 64 bits

Alright, but I think this would be more suited for gaming (if you are not doing gaming, why would you have a GTX 1070?). If you are not gaming on this rig, disregard all this.

Differences: Better and Cheaper Cooler, motherboard with more features for only $20 more,

less RAM (32GB vs 16GB really doesn't make a difference anyway), a 250GB SSD instead of another 2TB HDD, a better PSU (you really need a good one if you are planning on upgrading, Noctua Fans (super quiet), and a single monitor with better specs.

I've decided to go ahead and avoid Ryzen until its on the market for awhile. Want to be able to see independent benchmarks before i just give them my money. I'm sticking with the core i5 and going with a 1080 rather than a 1070
