GA-Z170X-Gaming 7error 62

Building my first computer.  here is my parts list. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Cjm0094/saved/#view=Kt7wP6. I put everything together and i'm getting the error 62 code on mobo. I read that i may need a bios update. can anyone explain how to do this using the Q-flash.  Or do you have any other recommendations to correct the error? appreciate any help. thanks!

You need a cpu that is compatable with the current BIOS version (i.e. a 6th gen. 1151 cpu), in order to flash a new BIOS.

Why didn't you get a Z270 board?

You need to update bios with a working compatible CPU installed. Either buy a used pentium or take it to a shop.

I have older computers laying around, maybe over 8 years old. does it matter how old the processor is?

Yes. Different pin configurations. You need something with the same pin config as the mobo, specifically something from the skylake family.

yes, installation of the wrong socketed CPU can damage the CPU pins and that would not be covered in any RMA process.

you'll need any 6th GEN CPU processor to do the update (the cheapest the less cost involved).

Or he could just go b250+i7 7700 it would still be a beast in processing power for the same/cheaper price [:

true, but the part is already purchased and without losing massive value on a used part.

purchasing a 6th GEN pentium G4400 for $60 to do the reflash and keep for a test CPU or HTPC for later.

Ohh I thought he was considering to get it yet, well while it is true wouldn't putting a 6700k just be good enough? not that much of a jump from it to the 7700k after all... besides if he has no use for the Pentium he might pay what? 20ish dollars for a local tech shop do that for him?
