Free PC Games that I should Try

I have only been playing SWTOR and Starcraft II lol. Wanted to try some new games that won't take forever to learn how to play. What free titles do you guys suggest. May get a little nauseous when playing first person shooter games but will push through if the game is decent :)

Proper free or freemium? For proper free I like the open source quake based games like warsow and xonotic/nexuiz. Freecol is cool if you're old enough to remember the original

Robocraft was fun.  It is a shooter, but with vehicles that you design.  The better the design for your choice of role, the better your odds.

I played like two years ago... for like 10 days... got all the way to max level because of the Christmas/NY promotional boosts.  I just tanked my way through the ranks.

Some of these titles look fun. I already got the barf bag out while watching the demo videos. I may have to stick with old school Sim City! Getting a little nauseous!

GRID (the original, not autosport), DiRT Showdown, and Amnesia: The Dark Descent.  All were free here or there (Steam, Humble Bundle, etc.) at some point, and I would highly recommend for that price, or even a few bucks next time there's a "normal" sale.

TF2 is quick and easy

Dota 2 is 100% free and amazing, been playing it for 8 years, but requires about 1,000 hours or so to have a basic understanding of the game

 

Purge has been trying to teach Day9 how to git gud

Otherwise, Dwarf Fortress

Fractured Space

 

It pretty much hand holds you through the process of learning the controls, piloting the first ship you get and taking on enemy ships.

 

You can also get the legendary captain the Mighty Jingles if you get to level 6 ranking (unlocking the crew option) in the next few days.
