4K/60hz monitor that can do 120hz at 1080p?

pyrojoe34

So I currently game on a 4K TV that can do 60hz at 4k but can do 120hz at 1080p (yes it's actually 120hz, not the fake motion stuff). The TV will now replace the broken living room one so I'm looking for a more PC/gaming oriented screen to use with my PC.

My question is: Is there a 4k monitor (28+in) that does the same? I have yet to see any specs that lead me to believe they can but it must exist if a TV can do it.

I want to run my desktop and certain games in 4k but when I play other games in 1080p I want the high refresh rate. I don't really want to go 1440p because it doesn't scale well with 1080p.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

As far as I know, there are not any 4k monitors that can achieve 120hz or higher let alone getting above 60hz (without overclock).

I don't want 4k at 120hz, just when using the monitor in 1080p mode do I want 120hz. My TV panel can already do it without issue. When my resolution is 4k it's 60hz and when my resolution is 1080p it's 120hz. The limitation is the connection bandwidth, not the 4k panel itself so as long as the manufacturer accounts for it, it should be possible to chose between the two. Not sure why some TVs would be able to do it but nobody has made a monitor that can. Seems like it would be very appealing to get the best of both worlds depending on what you're currently doing.

that's not accurate at all. If you go to the amazon page, Asus says its only 60hz. They released a 1440p 165hz but thats it.

-snip-

It's not released yet...

oh, then there is still no 4k 120hz he can buy. It's kind of misleading because the article says "BUY ONLINE ON AMAZON" right next to the specs of the supposed monitor.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I haven't seen or heard of a monitor that can do that and I'm pretty sure that there isn't a monitor that can do that.

The BUY online link was just leading to an Amazon search result of "ASUS 4K 144hz" I believe that was just a plaaceholder just in case it gets released

I mean we already have a 240Hz monitor already so high refresh rate 4K is just a time
