sound from HDMI port?

Hi, i just bought a new video card YAYYYY

Fun fact:  im the first one in the family to have a video card XDDDD

 

So i found an HDMI port on my video card and wondered, does it actually output sound though there?

 

Does ANY video card do this or is it just a few or am i just a nooblet

Yes they do. They should. They will. Just like my card.

should output sound on the HDMI and the Display port.   My monitor has builtin speakers and that is the only way it has input for sound.

Yes, and if you only wanted to capture the sound from HDMI instead of going through a monitor, you could use an adapter like this:

I've used them on Raspberry Pi's, works fine.

Nah, i just wanted to plug my gaming pc into my tv with one cable

Yeah HDMI does video + sound + ethernet, although I don't think GPUs support the ethernet part.
