i looked into it more. If your cooler uses clips like the stock cooler then it will be compatible. if your cooler requires the stock mounting to be removed and use the motherboard holes then it will not be compatible.

I bought a Hyper 212X a while back, waiting for Ryzen.

But a lot of sources states that AM4 will use a whole new bracket and will not be compatible with AM3/AM3+ sockets.

The confusing part is, I've seen posts on other forums and Youtube of older cooler compatible with AM4.

So now I am intrigued, can AM4 support coolers made for older platforms????

you may be able to get an adapter if you contact customer support though

i thought i saw in a video somewhere that am4 was going to be compatible with am3 coolers. in fact if you search "am4 with am3 cooler" theres a number of articles confirming it which, from what i get on the first google page, lead to social media posts from thermal right confirming their am3 coolers will fit in am4

Not compatible with 212 then.

 

@RealGamer, contact CoolerMaster directly. While there might not be local anything, they might still be able to send/sell mounting hardware. Or you can wait and see if some local dealer has them in stock after Ryzen is full released.
