rgb over fan splitter?

Quackers

I'm wondering if you connect something like the NZXT Aer RGB fans to a fan splitter and then connecting that to the motherboard will all the fans be synced to the same colour permanently or will the RGB lighting just not work at all?

thanks

The new generation of RGB fans has own controller cable for LEDs. So you have 2 cables from each fan, 1 for PWM power and 1 for LED controller. Compared to previous generation where LEDs were just powered over same 3/4pin power cable. Which led (pun not intended) to LEDs dimming when fans power was lowered with speed control in mind.

Simple answer: You can use splitters for fan powering. Each fan will have own separate cable for LEDs so that you can select to control LEDs one-by-one or chainlink multiple fans. NZXTs situation max chaining for LED strips/fans is 5 per header on Hue+.
