can you guys recommend parts for a nice pfsense router

i am willing to spend arround 200$. can spend a bit more.

also is an intel nic necessary? they are quite expensive

Just get what you find cheap, an a4/a6 or a core duo with 4gb of ram and a 32gb hdd or ssd would be all you need. Then the right psu. most mobos have a 10/100/1000 port so you would just need a mobo with 2 or buy a pci card with 1 or 2(NIC) and a pci card for wifi or a usb adapter but pci will look better and have better bandwidth since alot of usb devices are still 2.0.

so would an old 2010 xeon be good enough? i am getting it for half the price of the a4
