What is the end game goal in fallout 4?

I don't have fallout 4 yet and I was wondering to myself what is the ending or the end game event in fallout 4? (I'm guessing in the prologue it has to do something with his son and finding him?)

Location: Kaunas, Lithuania, Europe, Earth, Solar System, Local Interstellar Cloud, Local Bubble, Gould Belt, Orion Arm, Milky Way, Milky Way subgroup, Local Group, Virgo Supercluster, Laniakea, Pisces–Cetus Supercluster Complex, Observable universe, Universe.

You have the main questline which has an ending, but you also have many side quests.

The main questline is the main story of the game (which involves your son).
