Corsair RMi vs RMx series

Go to solution Solved by RobinG,

The difference between the RM series & RMi & RMx is that ONLY the RMi and RMx use completely Japanese capacitors and the RM also uses Taiwanese or Chinese, Corsair says that this is not impacting performance at all but Japanese capacitors have the reputation of being really good whereas the Taiwanese/Chinese have a lesser reputation. I have a RM550 (so with Taiwanese/Chinese capacitors) and it is running fine for almost 2 years already.

The difference between the RMi and RMx is that the RMi integrates Corsair Link functionality whereas the RMx series lacks this. The price of the RMx series is usually lower though. The performance should be exactly the same, the only difference being software monitoring/control through Corsair Link.

Hey everyone,

I´ve recently been checking reviews and specs about the new Corsair RMi and RMx series of power supplies and they both seem to be pretty badass PUSs for the price.

I´m asking if there is any difference other then that the i-model has Corsair Link and the x-model does not.

Did anyone find any other difference

Thanks for your help!

RMi contains higher quality components than the RM, such as better capacitors if I remember correctly. I would, however, advise you to not get an RM PSU due to its overpriced nature. RMi isn't great value for money either. If you wish to go with one of these, then go with the RMi, but I would advise you to get a different PSU.

Sorry OP, I thought you meant RM. It appears that Corsair Link is the only difference.

RM is different than RMx. From what I've HEARD, and remember, believe none of what you hear and half of what you see, that the RMx is basically the same thing as the RMi, just with less bells and whistles. They perform the same they said.

The RMi basically just has Corsair Link and that's it.  Components are exactly the same.  RM series was made for low noise systems.

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

When there is no danger of failure there is no pleasure in success.

Woah, I had no idea of the existence of RMx. Nobody on here's ever mentioned it, my apologies.
