Help with Word 2013, Selecting + Deleting doesn't work

Hello everyone!

I need Word 2013 for school alot, but since recently, I can't select a text and delete it with Backspace anymore.

This is really annoying if a have to remove a really long sentence.

 

Can you guys please help me?

yes, but im used to using backspace to delete stuff, been doing that since 10 years
