Why do gamers consider 24" the sweet spot ?

Dicehunter

What about a 24" 1920 x 1200 is that good or bad for gaming?

I cant go any lower than 27 inch. I cant stand when people say 27 inch is too big for 1080p because it is complete bullshit, I can put my face right up to the screen and not spot out a pixel.

I do, anything smaller is too small and anything bigger is too big. But 1080p @ 24" looks like crap as well, and 27" would just be ungodly. (To clarify, 1080p@24" isn't terrible in games, but on the desktop it's awful)

If you sit far enough away from the 27" monitor compared with the 24" monitor then you wont be able to tell the pixel density apart.

No.

It's the same as 1080p just with a little more height. For gaming it's pretty much the same, but for general use it's a bit better as it gives about 10% more real estate.

You must be blind then.

I'm an idiot because I think 1080p @ 27" looks pixelated? If it didn't look pixelated I assure you, 1440p and 4k wouldn't be a thing.

You're an idiot because you can't admit you're wrong. That is just not true... 1440p and up exist because a higher pixel density results in a crisp, cleaner image and allows for bigger panels to be made without having the pixels stand out like a sore thumb. That being said, 27 inch is just perfect for 1080p and does not look pixelated.

Viewing distance dictates this, so you can't make a blanket statement like that.

What I said earlier about putting my face up to the screen was an exaggeration. I sit about a foot from my 27 inch display and can not see a pixel, say I move up a bit and I'm about 5-6 inches away then I will notice but I would have to stare at it to try and see the pixels.

Well I ended up getting 3 x 1080P 144Hz 24" monitors for eyefinity, Not because I thought 27" was pixelated, Actually I can't tell 1 bit of difference between the 2 sizes, But just down to the fact that between the 2 sizes, 24" is preferable to my eyes.

I actually didn't see what you posted earlier, but wow; you only sit one foot away from a 27" 1080p monitor and think it looks ok? I think you're just ignorant on the subject, because even though I said it's subjective--there is a threshold.

He could just have bad vision. I have 20/20 vision and I can see pixelation on my 24" 1080p monitor at 15" away.

But wouldn't you like a 28" panel over a 24" panel?

Considering the desk I have now, a 28" monitor is simply too big.

I like the screen covering my field of view. If I have to move my neck around, as I find I need to with some of the larger monitors, then I find them a little too inconvenient for a few of the games I play, namely... all of them
