What LED for mainly black components?

Hey.

 

I have had the glossy white Define R4 for awhile with a bright white LED inside. The problem is, it's too bright. I was thinking about replacing it.

 

Most of the parts that I have are black, including mobo, CPU cooler etc. So pretty much everything. Case is a white Define R4 with a window.

 

What would be the best light to showcase the insides, but not to make it too bright, but subtle? Would UV light do any good or does that mainly work on white?

 

Basically I'm asking the best possible color to bring details up while not necessarily adding a certain color to it.

electroluminescent tape. (EL tape/wire) it not super bright and offers a nice light in colour of your choice, probably white again, or red if you want to minimise visabilty

I'd say white again, but use an RGB strip (to change the tint of the white) or at least something brightness controlled.

I just remembered I had the IKEA RGB LED strip lying around. I think it's good enough not to buy another light. It's a tad too bright still, but looks pretty neat. I essentially ran the strip from the bottom of the case (there was a little horizontal hole out) and it goes directly to my wall socket. Everytime I want to move the PC I just disconnect the strip from outside the case. I don't move it that much. I also have a controller for the strip. Here are some pictures what can be achieved with the IKEA strip if anyone is curious:

I have an RGB strip from ebay with controller - Best $20 I've spent. I've used it in 3 builds, and bought more controllers for other builds.
