'Factory Reconditioned' TX750 - Bad idea?

Admiral Naismith

Hello,

I was walking though Microcenter the other day, and I noticed something that caught my eye. On the shelves, there was a 'Factory Reconditioned' Corsair TX750w PSU with a 'Corsair Guarantee 1 Year' roundel going for $89.99. Now, I've heard that Corsair's TX line is pretty decent, so is this a good value? Or is it likely just an old PSU that has had an air-can sprayed at it?

Have a good day!

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

If there is something wrong with it you can always take it back anyway. I would give it a shot.

At my local Microcenter they will let you open up the box too see, so I would try doing that first. When Microcenter sold the refurb OCZ power supplies, they were basically brand new, so maybe its the same?

You can pick up the EVGA Supernova G2 750W for $84.99 (After rebate) from NCIX. If the Corsair was $40 - $50 then it might be a good deal.
