Connecting two monitors

yourdad165

So my friend just bought a second monitor and he needs help configuring it. I have never used more than one monitor before so I am not really sure what to do. From what he's telling me it seems like it should be working. He is connecting one monitor using a DVI cable to his graphics card (GTX 660) and the second one using HDMI to his graphics card. The other monitor is only displaying a black screen and he says he cannot configure it using control panel.

Does anybody know how to configure dual monitors? Thanks in advance for any help I can get.
