K70 backlight speaker buzz

I have the exact same keyboard, and I too have that same issue. It doesn't bother me much because I use a headset. Sounds like you are getting some EMI (Electro-magnetic Interference). Try and set your cabling in such a way that none of your speaker cables are touching or are near your keyboard cable. Try to isolate your speaker cables from everything else, I bet that will help a little.

Let me know, thanks!

Cheers.

Hi guys, so a week ago i got a Corsair Veangance K70 fully mechanical keyboard, I love the keyboard so much, but i only have 1 problem.

When i turn on the backlight i can hear a buzzing sound in my speakers. When i tuen off the backlight the buzzing goes away, with changing the brightness level of the keyboard the buzzing changes volume.

If i turn the voume of my PC off I can still hear the buzzing, but if i turn off the sound of the speakers manuly(by turning the volume wheel) the buzzing stops.
The sound file is what it sounds like(the background noise is jus me having a shitty mic).

Changing brightness is usually done through PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) which can be a source of EMI, as stated above.

Apart from plugging in cables into different sources, which solved your problem, you can also buy thicker, better shielded cables which should prevent the EMI from messing with your sound.

I have the same problem with my buzzing/humming K70.

What I found, is that the instensity varies depending on which ports I plug the keyboard and headphones into.
The loudest (unbearable) being when the headphones are connected to the front panel, irrelevant to where the keyboard is connected to.
Second loudest (slightly tolerable) being when the headphones and keyboard are connected to the back of the pc.

Temporary fix: The whining noise is eliminated when I connect the keyboard to the front of the pc, and the audio to the back, which is really inconvenient.

So I am still looking for a better solution, and I don't understand why this is the only way I can currently get away from all that EMI in my ears.

I've been searching for solutions all night. Any tips?

I am using 3.5mm jack headphones, a Corsair 450D case and a z97 Maximus VII Ranger mobo.

I know this is old but I was just looking into the same thing just now and afterwards I did my own brainstorming and I fixed my issue. I am using a laptop speaker that mounts to the top of your LCD screen and gets power from a USB port. What I did was to plug in its USB power into an old Samsung phone charger straight into a power outlet and that solved my issue. Hope this helps someone with a similar issue.

Just plugging the USB of the keyboard on the different side of the speaker jack.

I’m using headphones, but the same thing happens. It’s not the cords. If I put my headphones close to my keyboard, it buzzes. If I move my headphones away, it quiets down.

FYI, I had the same problem with a hp k10g mechanical keyboard, only if I use it trough an USB switch selector, as long as I share keyboard and mouse between two computers (not at once, of course; I change the origin computer with a button on the switch). The problem happened with the switch not powered by the 5v connector; It didn't happen if I directly connect the keyboard trough the usb in the computer. The fix was to power the switch with a 5V adapter... Strange.

Also, it happens too with less intensity if I use an usb extension for the 5v power, as the cable is too short. The final fix was to use a current extension to not having to use the usb extension, and problem fixed !

The volume and distinctive sounds for the buzz were altered if I changed the light pattern at the keyboard.
