R9 290 getting out performed by my gtx 770

indexcow

i am running 8 gigs of high clocked ram (2***) and an ssd boot drive and a 1tb black

Well, it really could be a couple things then: the games you're playing have poor optimization in the AMD driver, or your install of catalyst and windows is screwed up and needs to be reinstalled.

If I were you, i'd backup my boot drive, bite the bullet and reinstall windows.

ive only touched overdrive in CCC and my gpu usage is 100% at 1137 core clock and 1400 mem clocl

Did you increase the power limit? Better install MSI Afterburner, will make it easier to spot card abnormal behavior.

he hasn't mentioned it I was generalizing in my original 290vs770 comp, they are two different levels of performance but on the similar level of cost and therefore very comparable. This is a 290vs770 thread sir if you don't wanna compare them this isn't the thread for you... TS did say he has a reference 290 and also dude I did specify after market 290s in my original comp

*sighs* Perhaps I was not succinct enough, I had meant that you cannot compare the temps between them simply because a higher performance card of the same series will run hotter....just like the GTX770 would definitely run cooler than the GTX780, which in turn, is the direct competitor to the R9 290. Yes, this thread is about a GTX770 vs R9 290, but the heat difference between them should NOT be a factor since, again, they are different levels of performance. Does the GTX780 run hotter than the GTX770? So, would it not be surprising that the R9 290 run hotter as well? Succinct enough?

It runs or it doesn't work right ie: artifacting, crashing, ect.

To avoid crashing it throttles. I never said it gets "tired", it just degrades and gets worse.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

I mined for 6 months, my 7950 still perform as good as new, except it was covered with dust.

It depends how well you treated it.

I've had the same problem. Driver cleaners screw up windows and should never be used. I learned that the hard way, and have had 0 issues since reinstalling windows.

its not perfroming any worse, its still able to hit 1137 core clock and it destroys my 770 in games, its a driver issue i thimk
