Things that seem logical / obvious but new builders propably dont know

So I am upgrading my new pc, and I have about zero experience with anything to do with pc's. I will buy my GPU within 2 months, (770, I still have to save some more money), and I was wondering what kind of trouble I could run into with this, and further upgrades (For example; With a new mobo you have to reinstall the OS because of the chipset).

Now I have a friend thats really into tech, so I know tiny bits of everything, but even he doesn't know everything. Soo what are things that you or anybody you know have run into while upgrading / building a pc? And how could I avoid that or deal with it?

Just uninstall the previous drivers.

Personally, I did not have to do this, even from going to B75 to Z77.

Same with the GPU power cable.

I heard from a friend that he got scared when his rig would not boot, he forgot to plug the system into the power outlet.

Make sure that you're system doesn't have bottlenecks (come back to the forum when you have a build ready to be checked), and make sure you get hardware from trusted manufacturers (so that you know that they do have all those certifications they say they do).
