Wouldn't the cord be a bit counterproductive for lan parties though?

Hmm, why 16GB ram?

Also, are you planning on lugging the display around as well? If so, would it not be beneficial to get a 21.5" monitor instead?

future proofing for the ram, and a 21.5 monitor could be nice :) if u can get 2 for under 230$ that would be awesome :D

Not doable for under $230 unless you get crappy ones.

However, the system could be more compact without raising the price: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3hvbn

2 displays + smaller size > 1 display + HT.

Performance difference isn't much if any in most cases. At best, HT only gives ~30% more performance.

In just about everything overall. HT is only worth getting when you need it. Most people who get it don't..

A second display would increase your productivity much more than HT ever would for content creation.

You could just switch out the i5 for the xeon from my list.. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3hzXd

I doubt you'd even notice the difference between the 2 in a blind test for what you're doing though.

1. No ssd?

2. You're paying $25 for 300 mhz that you wouldn't even notice.

3. Don't run a 760 off of a cx430. It's a relatively cheap unit and doesn't have enough pci-e connectors.

4. Why pay $20 for more for a similar panel?

You can't oc on a h87 chipset. You shouldn't be doing so in such a small case anyway.

The psu is overkill.

Could be cheaper: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3iy5C
